During this time McFarlane has founded 3 different companies, with a presence in 11 countries around the world. McFarlane has been very active in the M&A space having completed 8 different acquisitions in 5 countries.

Most recently, McFarlane has established Triathlon Capital Corp and a number of operating affiliates in the US, Canada and the UK.

At its peak, XTG was comprised of 6 member companies, with 360 employees in 21 locations in 10 countries worldwide with revenues in excess of $130 million. The company grew through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions.

Recognizing the need for expansion into the end-user market, McFarlane founded a technology solutions practice, BlueRange Technology in 2005. The acquisition of Vernon Computer Source (Stamford, Connecticut) came in 2007 and represented a complementary expansion with a focus on short-term computer hardware rentals and original equipment manufacturer evaluation pool management. PartStock Computer (Minneapolis, Minnesota) was acquired in 2009 and serviced the educational market in North America. In 2011 XTG purchased Hamilton Rentals Limited of the United Kingdom, and Livingston Electronic Services of Germany. The combination of these entities created one of the world’s largest short-term IT & AV rental companies, and the largest in Europe.

Prior to founding Xchange Technology Group, McFarlane developed and executed comprehensive sales and marketing strategies for two of Canada’s largest independent computer lessors including MFP Technology Services.
